Alasia

Selected from the finest grapes grown in our members' vineyards, Alasia is a range that captures varietal finesse and the depth of its territory.

If Araldica expresses the collective voice of the cooperative, Alasia represents its highest qualitative tier. By recognising growers capable of delivering healthy, fully ripe, and intact grapes, we have developed a selection method over time that begins in the vineyard parcels and takes shape in the wine.

Vineyards are identified according to vine age, exposure, and soil composition in relation to each grape variety. Harvest may take place in several passes, allowing only optimally ripe clusters to be picked. In the cellar, decisions are guided by the character of each vintage, with the aim of preserving varietal definition, aromatic integrity, and stylistic coherence, within an integrated crop protection approach designed to reduce overall impact.

The name

Alasia is a name deeply rooted in Monferrato. It carries the layers of its history, the long echo of its hills, and the way this land has always chosen to tell its own story.

Legend speaks of Alasia, the only daughter of Emperor Otto I, and of Aleramo, a knight of great skill but without wealth. Their love was forbidden, their escape inevitable: they found refuge between Asti and Acqui Terme, near present-day Castel Boglione, where local tradition still points to the remains of what is known as Ca' d'Alasia. Otto's forgiveness came with a promise: as much land as Aleramo could ride across on horseback in three days would be his.

Knowing those lands intimately, Aleramo rode far and wide across the hills north and south of the Tanaro, in what are now the provinces of Asti and Alessandria. Thus Monferrato was born – «exultant with castles and vineyards, the land of Aleramo», as poet Giosuè Carducci famously described it.

The Wines

The Alasia collection offers clear, faithful interpretations of Piedmont's grape varieties, shaped by shared care between growers, agronomists, and winemakers. Each label is the result of deliberate choices and a focused technical path, with the aim of producing wines that are balanced, precise, and firmly rooted in their origin.
