  Tasting Notes
Roleto

Colour / Colore:

Mid-yellow in colour with gold highlights.

Aroma / Profumo:

Rich, yet elegant fragrances of pineapple and peach with underlying tones of vanilla fill the glass.

Palate / Gusto:

This is a full-bodied Chardonnay, packed full of tropical fruit flavours. Pineapple and peach dominate, mingling well with hints of ripe apples, and a touch of honey and cream. The fruit is well balanced with the acidity and oak, leaving a note of spicy warmth on the lingering finish.

Ageing potential / Invecchiamento:

Although drinking well now, this wine will benefit from age in bottle for two to four years.

Vineyard / Vigneto:

Fruit for the 2001 Roleto are from the Roleto Vineyard in the commune of Castel Boglione. Situated at an altitude of around 350m, the vineyard faces south, southwest and has chalk clay soils. The 24-year-old vines are trained using the traditional Guyot method, and production averages 8 Tonnes/ha.

Wine making / Vinificazione:

The Chardonnay grapes for the 2001 Roleto were hand harvested, then chilled and pressed in modern pneumatic presses. The juice was fermented in 40% new and 60% one-year-old French oak barriques and then underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged on yeast lees in the same barriques for six months before being blended and bottled.
