  Tasting Notes
Piemonte Moscato Passito

Colour / Colore:

Antique gold.

Aroma / Profumo:

Classic aromas of concentrated dried grapes, apricots, candied fruit and orange zest from botrytis.

Palate / Gusto:

Rich and unctuous mouth-feel. A true sweet wine showing plenty of weight and fruit concentration with added complexity due to the influence of botrytis and a proportion of barrel fermentation and maturation. Lively finish and great length.

Region / Zona:

The Monferrato hills in the south of the province of Asti, Piemonte. South West aspects at altitudes between 250 and 400m. Limestone-clay soil.

Vineyard / Vigneto:

Piemonte low Guyot trellis. Planting density 4,000-4,500 vines/ha.

Wine making / Vinificazione:

3,000 Lt/ha. The fruit was hand harvested about one month later than the usual Moscato harvest. The grapes were put in baskets and left in a room with temperature and humidity control for 45 days. During this time 40% of the fruit's weight is lost by water evaporation. In mid-December the whole bunches are pressed and then a slow fermentation is undertaken in oak barrels for 2 months followed by 12 months ageing prior to bottling.
