Alasia Barbera d'Asti 2001

Colour / Colore:

Light purple 'crown' of spritzy bubbles yields to a dark ruby colour.

Aroma / Profumo:

Typical Barbera plum fruit with a hint of lavender.

Palate / Gusto:

Light prickle on the tongue accentuates pepper/lavender notes, leading to a fresh, bramble-fruited and refreshing red with a pleasing zesty finish.

Region / Zona:

The Monferrato hills in the south of the province of Asti, Piemonte. South West aspects at altitudes between 250 and 400m. Limestone-clay soil.

Vineyard / Vigneto:

Piemonte low Guyot trellis. Planting density 4,000-4,500 vines/ha.

Wine making / Vinificazione:

The fruit was hand harvested from 3rd to 10th October. Fermented in stainless steel tanks at 25-30° C using BDX yeast but stopped while some residual sugar remained. In the Spring the clear wine was then fermented further in pressurised tanks.
